Easy as ABC

Accessorising is as easy as ABC with the help of a new pop-up space from French fashion house Chloe.

The Chloé Alphabet Bar gives women the chance to accessorise their Drew and Faye bags with gold letterpress charms, spell out their initials on necklaces and buy stacked alphabet rings.

The Faye bag comes in grey and is cast in a mix of smooth, suede calfskin and python. The Drew is made from python and suede calfskin and comes in a new colour of dark purple.

The pop-up space also has a new line of message bracelets that spell out “Love”, “Rock”, “Wild”, “Happy” and “XOXO”. The bracelets cost HK$2,480.

Chloe invited a number of celebrities including Myolie Wu, Cara Grogan, Ana Rivera, Mikki Yao, Angie Ng and Alvin Goh to a cocktail event last week to celebrate the opening of the pop-up space.

The alphabet bar is open until 30 October at Pacific Place.

Holiday handbags

For women who love to travel but are bored of their holiday fashion,  Louis Vuitton will provide some much needed inspiration with its latest campaign.

The french fashion house’s Cruise campaign aims to embody the spirit of travel.

The Cruise campaign features Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, who won an Oscar for her role in the Danish Girl, and was staged in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Vikander was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier holding two new Louis Vuitton handbags, the Twist and Capucines.

The Capucines handbag is so adaptable that you can take it from the boardroom to the beach, while the Twist is a modern classic designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, the creative director of Louis Vuitton.

The photos of Vikander in Rio are meant to portray escapism, which is what everyone wants when they go on holiday.

Ted Baker’s mission

Film-inspired fashion shoots are not something new, but this hasn’t stopped Ted Baker from unveiling its men and women’s Autumn/Winter collection with a unique take on this tried-and-tested formula.

The British clothing company’s second “Mission Impeccable” photo campaign uses a more industrial and cinematic tone for the winter and holiday season inspired by the TV show Peaky Blinders and films like James Bond and the dark thriller Seven.

The campaign was photographed at the unused Aldwych underground tube station, Wapping power station and an abandoned hotel in west London.

The male and female models are photographed on a set built with different scenarios including a fashion crime scene, safe house and recklessly hanging off the front of an underground train.

This campaign comes after Ted Baker made headlines recently with its shoppable film directed by Guy Ritchie. The film allows viewers to interact with the video and shop for clothes from the fashion company’s Autumn/Winter collection.

Tassel-tastic

Looking for a bag with tassels to help perfect your look? Then look no further because Maje’s M bag is making a return this winter.

Maje, a Parisian brand, strives to design bags that are somewhere between modern and quirky, with an authentic look and sharp designs.

And the M bag definitely has an authentic look which will appeal to women who enjoy nothing more than being seen at a festival in a fringe coat or having an elegant night out.

Tassel-loving fashionistas can choose from black, dark red, natural and black patent leather, without forgetting tobacco or mustard suede.

The bag can be worn as a chic clutch, across the body or, if you’re really daring, on the shoulder.

Inspirational Paris

Lovers and fashionistas have been lured to Paris by the city’s air of romance and reputation as one of the world’s top fashion destinations for years. It is a city steeped in history, fashion and love.

Visitors and locals spend afternoons sitting on the banks of the Seine or shopping at the fashion boutiques on Rue Saint-Honoré.

And the Rue Saint-Honoré area of Paris is the inspiration for the latest handbags for women by Longchamp.

The French luxury leather maker is commemorating the district, where it opened its first Paris boutique in 1998, with the launch of its new handbag range for women, the Paris Premier.

The tote bags have been designed to embody the Rue Saint-Honore and surrounding area. They are made out of French calfskin with gently curved handles and brass hardware.

The curved handles symbolise the arcades of Rue de Rivoli and Rue de Castiglione and the calfskin denotes the luxury of the Rue Saint-Honoré boutiques and surrounding grand hotels. Obviously!

Designer Cath Kidston strives to keep spirit of summer alive

As we creep into autumn, the window of opportunity to wear dresses and skirts with floral patterns on them gets smaller. Or so you’d think. Designer Cath Kidston is bucking the trend that winter means people should wear dark colours.

Kidston’s Autumn/Winter collection is inspired by late summer days spent in an English orchard or hosting a tea party at home, which sounds like something your mum or gran would do. But kudos to Kidston for trying to add some colour to the grey winter months.

Some of the clothes in the English designer’s collection come with prints of an orchard blossom, forest rose and, weirdly, telephones.

The collection is perfect for anyone who is nostalgic about the spirit of summer and enjoys wearing clothes with summer prints and novelty graphics.

New Versace bag sported by top celebrities

This season’s “it” purse – the Versace Palazzo Empire bag – has been spotted in the hands of celebrities from Celine Dion to Jessica Alba to Serena Williams.

The leather bag, featuring the iconic Medusa head on the front flap, is available in classic colours of navy blue, grey and arctic blue, as well as more vibrant options of citrus, ice pink and flamingo. One style features a coloured contrast wave stripe across the middle for a pop of personality.

Supermodel Karlie Kloss appeared in the Fall/Winter 2016 advertising campaign for the Palazzo Empire bag and was also spotted carrying it in New York City. Other big names seen carrying the bag were Jennifer Garner, Alessandra Ambrosio, Elizabeth Hurley and Gigi Hadid.

Tennis stars help Giorgio Armani unveil latest womenswear collection

When you think of tennis and fashion, Bjorn Borg and his popular range of underwear for men generally comes to mind. However, Borg, a popular player in the ‘70s and ‘80s, and his underwear are not really the height of fashion in 2016.

Thankfully, Giorgio Armani didn’t have to rely on players who were famous 30-40 years ago to help promote his latest collection. The designer managed to get the biggest names in tennis today — Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams — to attend his womenswear Spring/Summer 2017 collection in Milan recently.

Armani’s latest collection, Charmani, features short sarong skirts, sequel shorts in soft jersey fabric and trousers made from diaphanous veils. To round off the look the models wore flat slippers, strappy boots and high-heeled sandals.
