Given a mandate to turn the expansive apartment into a luxurious home that harmoniously connects with nature without the hassles of daily pressures, COMODO Interior & Furniture Design proceeded to come up with a highly creative but innovative concept. Founded in 2009 and led by Alain Wong, the design house opted to employ lots of wood and earth tones to blend with natural daylight and greenery, reinjecting outdoor comfort and vitality into the indoor setting and in the process, creating an immersive warm and comfortable ambience.

“The mandate was to turn this apartment into a luxurious home that harmoniously connects with nature”

COMODO’s choice of design marks a sharp departure from the simple but elegant light gray scheme that it rendered in the client’s old apartment in Bel-Air Residence eight years ago. Its presentation of the Sai Kung home moves away from the artistic and oceanic elements of Bel Air in the southern district as it edged closer to nature. “We aim to bring minimalist design to our clients, in a warm, cosy, contemporary style that integrates artistry with functionality,” says Wong. The Mount Pavilia mandate covers the living, dining, master’s and two children’s bedrooms, as well as the study and multi-function rooms and outdoor garden.

The living and dining rooms are decorated with light wood panels and light gray texture wallpaper with bronze steel. Light gray floor tiles and a wooden ceiling design bring a focal point to the space. The furniture in light wood tones, dark green sofas and marble coffee tables provide a variety of rich materials that exude simplicity, creating a harmonious and comfortable harmony. The master’s bedroom and study room are also dominated by light gray and light wood hues, with rounded corners, and a wooden strip further enhancing the overall design motif.

The adjoined dining and living room is located on the ground floor, with the outdoor garden going a long way in making the area look more spacious. As one enters the front door, the visitor is warmly greeted by corridor walls and cabinets covered with light-coloured veneer and light gray wallpaper. Line-tracking details are added to the wall and cabinet design, and they extend to the living room to connect the space. Two full-height cabinets, set up in the foyer and multi-function room, blend seamlessly even as they serve a functional purpose of meeting family members’ needs for storage. A row of floor-to ceiling folding windows enable outdoor natural daylight to flow into the room, providing a spectacular wide-angle view from the inside.

In the living room, the wooden panelling is decorated on the ceiling, extending to the TV wall, drawing attention upwards. On the other side are the display glass shelves, framed by wood and copper, that allow the ceiling light to penetrate and illuminate different decorations. The hanging display cabinet is added with a feature steel frame to enhance the overall luxury. The combination of dining table, elbow chair and chair from Carl Hansen & Son, and the Northern Dahl pendant light in the dining room are meticulously blended with soft woody tones, providing the unit with a sense of harmony. The Muuto Outline sofa in the living room visually lights up the elegance, with a Hay Dapper lounge chair and a Carl Hansen & Son shell chair adding to the leisurely atmosphere that blends with nature and provides family members with a relaxing environment.
