Children’s Medical Foundation hosts inaugural Charity Golf Day

Children’s Medical Fund, a non-profit charity organisation based in Asia, hosted its first Charity Golf Day, which raised funds for neonatal care programmes in China.

High child mortality rates remain one of the greatest threats facing rural China. CMF’s work is devoted to building infrastructure and facilities, and increasing awareness of neonatal healthcare in China. With this end in mind, they have already established the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center (SCMC), one of China’s leading paediatric hospitals today.

Most of CMF’s funding comes from corporate donors. In recent years, corporate giants like HSBC, Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs have taken up the cause.

Through organising the Charity Golf Day, the Clear Water Bay Golf and Country Club has come on-board to show its support for CMF. More than 150 guests were invited to the event, which features a shotgun golf tournament and dinner with wine-tasting. CMF aims to raise HK$500,000 for its neonatal care programmes.

Estella Huang Lung, the co-chairperson of CMF, says, “As we are entering into our 22nd year since inception, 2017 will be another critical year for the Children’s Medical Foundation, with our healthcare programmes for newborn babies operating in full swing in rural China.”
